As If WoW Cataclysm Classic 2's record-setting launch wasn't sufficient, Activision is also enjoying the benefits of the first map pack for the game. In the last week, the company announced that their $16 Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package was able to set day-one and week-one Xbox Live sales records, selling 1 million and 2.5 million, respectively. The figures, however, don't comprise games for PlayStation as well as PC editions of the maps multiplayer add-on which will be released on May 4.

In light of the premium map pack's phenomenal popularity, Activision Blizzard today said that its earnings per share and revenues for the period January-March are ahead of prior estimates. The company didn't give specific numbers, citing only its previously announced forecast for $0.20 profits per share, based on $1.1 billion in revenues.

However the publisher did offer an updated outlook for the full year's earnings. The diluted earnings per share are expected to come around $0.49 for the period of three months that's which is up $0.02 from previous estimations.

"We are better than our March quarter forecast due to the strong demand worldwide for Blizzard entertainment's WoW Cataclysm Classic and Activision's WoW Cataclysm Classic 2," Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick announced in a press release. "We have benefited from the record-breaking release of the WoW Cataclysm Classic 2 map pack, previously scheduled to launch in June quarter. In addition, certain operating costs that were originally planned to be incurred in the month of March are now scheduled to be taken care of during the quarter ending June."
