It's been reported that Madden NFL 24 has received tax-exempt status due to the fact that it's an "trade organization" The teams technically get the money the league makes, and pay back the league dues. "Commerce is vital to our nation, and we ought to encourage those working on it with a more public-minded manner. These (sports) organisations I believe that they are anything but public-minded in their profit interest. They have their sights set on the earnings from their franchises."
